Am I strange?

Question

I don't really like guys who tell me they like me (romantically) when I've only known them for a short time.
They tell me they like me and that I'm a good person, but I haven't even shown them my true self yet (not that I'm fake, I just have layers to my personality)
It feels like they have an idealized version of me on their head and I don't like it

Nope. Totally a normal reaction. Romantically It doesn't work with just a few days especially online. Atleast for me.

To be frank, most people have an idealized version of someone they first meet. Whether its good or bad, they will exaggerate the fee bit of characteristics you show them until later when they broaden their knowledge of who you are. Dont take it so personally, its a natural habit.

There's a difference between not telling, hiding and faking..
Also show your true self to those who you are interested in, I think if you like someone and if they tell you that they like you ,aren't you supposed to be happy?

CJ I totally get you. Anytime I get an overload of compliments from guys and they tell me just how much they like me this is all I hear "sweet talker, smooth criminal, ingenuine". When really I just need to take a chill pill and accept the ego boost. Take it with a grain of salt. People's actions speak louder to me.

You probably don't like them in that way, and that's okay. Go for the next and be patient, continue to put effort into getting to know someone, analyze, see if there is compatibility and eventually you will find someone you will like and time won't matter at all.

You’re not strange and I think most feels the same way in one way or another. Physical attraction could be understandable since that’s what they see first. But in terms romantically, I doubt. I think those things take time

You won't know someone deeply until you spend time around them in a way that only a relationship would allow for. Everyone has an idealized version of someone in the beginning until they really, really get to know them. So yes, they have an idealized version of you, and that's normal. Even being friends for a long time won't allow you to know someone as intimately as a relationship would.
