Warning! This is going to be a bit of a long read. So does anyone else find that many others don't like or or don't know how to communicate well? Like you'll message someone and get nothing but either a one word response or a closed statement without a follow up question? Is it really that hard to talk to people or do people expect you to do all the work? Like, asking someone how they are doing. In any other situation they'd reply and return the question. Which would indicate mutual interest, which would lead into further conversation. At least, that's how I've seen it play out in public. But on these apps, it's again, a one word response or a closed statement. But then, people will make public posts and engage in Long conversations with people at random without issue. Wut? I don't get it. And granted, I've seen all manner of weirdo, goofball messaging the most off the wall, cringeworthy garbage to people's IMs in an attempt to somehow "win then over". (Long drawn out romantic posts from creeps with way to many compliments or wonderful phallic pictures right off the bat. You know? Stuff that "Ape minded" goofs do.) So I can understand the hesitation to a degree. But still. Am I wrong here for being a bit annoyed? Am I missing something?

Chatting online is an art. You have to take into account the mitigating factors of the medium. Women receive a hundred messages a day asking them how they are doing. It's not even a good line in real life, and it's exponentially less interesting in a text from a random person. A good bet is to message with a query pertinent to their profile. But an even better strategy is to come up with a couple interesting openers you can send to anyone. They should strongly tempt the girl to respond.
