I am convinced that we use magic every single day. Not physics defying or logic breaking magic, but real magic. I want you to compare classic examples of magic to what we have today. A magic crystal is generally described as a crystal with the ability to recieve a command and then perform a task with incredible precision or power. That’s literally a computer chip. Cpu’s are literally crystaline structures of silicon that, when used correctly, perform incredible tasks. Sigils and runes are another example. They’re usually described as patterns drawn precisely which result in specific tasks being performed. When you look at a pcb or a motherboard or a circuit of any kind, that’s exactly what those copper traces are. Very specific and calculated patterns drawn out in copper which results in almost any kind of outcome you can think of. Now, for the language part. Technical or mechanical language masks these magics and makes them seem boring or unremarkable. If we replace the language we use with the more fantastical language, i think you’d see that magic is everwhere in modern society. Try to think about the sterilized technical language we use to describe the things we use every day and replace it with the archaic language. Instead of calling it a computer, call it a magic crystal (it meets the definition almost exactly as both magic and a crystal). Your smart phone? Scrying mirror (which also uses a crystal to function). Programmers and engineers? Witches and wizards. (edited)
