Tricolour attained!
I finally have a perfect three colour Porcellio Scaber. It's the one on the lower right! The darker orange one next to it is great example of whats known as Lava colour P. Scaber. And the rest are the other acceptable variants I chose for the shot. I have many more than that. But those barely countโฆ read more

My favorite photo I've taken ๐ท

I keep finding them!
Before I started my weird little experiment of breeding three colours of Porcellio Scaber. The only ones I ever found out in the wild were the grey and, the rarer orange type. Since I released a bunch of the more "boring" colours back into the wild, after they had been in my tank. I've beenโฆ read more

Spooder
One of two that exist in my large terrarium. The other one isn't as well fed. Considering the amount of isopods in there. They should both be over fed.

P.Scaber colour variants.
Apparently there's 5 Types. Not 4. T1, dual color spotted fade, front to back. T2, dual colour even mix. T3, dual colour large dorsal spots. T4, dual colour striped. And the one I forgot about... T5, dual colour solid back, highlighted edges. T5 highlighted edges, is shown at the furthest bottomโฆ read more

Isopodlets
This post is yet another update on the collection of Porcellio Scaber & Armadillidium Vulgares that I'm selecting and breeding. Camera is still being an uncooperative spud for some of these. So, apologies for the blurry & flat coloured bs. Also, its tricky to take photos of critters that areโฆ read more

Since y'all loved the last one
Check her out ๐ I am proud of how she came out!

Micro Obsession
Dunno what it is. But it seems like. Some little crustaceans have taken over my old cabinet. That little bowl is about what held the first few isopods. Then the square one became primary tank. More recently the big tank was added. And last night I made the selections for the jar.

Isopoopies
I'm still doing the experiment where I'm trying to get specific colours of isopods to interbreed. I've got a good selection of the ones I do want. But these ones here are the discards. The slimmer, dull ones are the Porcellio Scabers with the traits I'm not looking for. And the shiny, thiccboisโฆ read more

Found this little gal outside my work, moths are probably one of my favorite insects
Anyone else like bugs or am I the only one

A mini terrarium approved plant.
I found an isopod approved plant that they like to climb and lightly trim, without devouring the whole thing in two weeks. Also they like to hide in these dried acacia flowers.

I found a Lava P. Scaber!
I'm not entirely sure if this is from a wild Orange x Grey cross. Or, if it's a cross from the dozens of Grey Porcellio Scabers I released into my garden. But, I found a perfect (Lava) variant as I was moving things to start mowing my yard. I also found two White x Grey (dairy cow/dalmatian)โฆ (edited) read more

Isopods
I really like how my isopods are mixing their colours. There's a mottled White Grey combo hiding in this picture. It would be harder to spot if it was an Orange Grey combo. Unless it was red fringed... there's a couple of those somewhere. Edited... My dumbass forgot to attach the picture. (edited)

Ex Isoposeidon
The palette do be palleting on the crawliest collection of the creepy jeepers. I finally have a decent number of White x Orange hybrids, to go with the White x Grey hybrids. I just need those two variants to intermingle more, and I'll probably end up with the results I wanted. A bunch of niceโฆ read more

More iso's for the pods
I didn't go through with placing that 160 dollar order. I decided to tone it down to about 100. I'm getting 3 packs each of White and then Orange P.Scaber, from Pocket Kaiju. I'll probably take a few samples out of those and put them in the larger enclosure. The rest are going into the smaller ofโฆ read more
I think I'm part way to my goal (experiment)
I went through the mini enclosure and systematically weeded out 90% of the plain grey P.Scabers. Only keeping those that had semblance of the spotted or striped traits that I wanted. The rest are either pure orange, or white. And those are for the colour variance I'm trying to breed into theโฆ read more

My hoarde, it grows!
My collection of isopods are nearly at where I want them to be. For the most part. The spotted trait seems to be dominating. Which is what I wanted. Then again, I've also been weeding out the pure grey and bland colourations. With the exception of pure white and orange. As those cost me money toโฆ read more

Tricolour
My attempts to get a tricolour isopod population are progressing nicely. I just picked out 12 of the best variants to put into their own container. In the hopes to intensify those traits. As per usual... none of them wanted to cooperate for either the selection or the photo op. Pic 3 (middle) & 4โฆ read more

Genetic colour expressions in P.Scaber.
I added more of the funky colours to the micro tank. Kept a few mono colours in the mix for the sake of divvying genetic diversity between the three enclosures. The diversity profile is still a majority of Greys. With Orange and White taking up second and third place. But, that now includesโฆ read more

The prime spotted one
I got a couple of really good pics of one of my favourite spotted Porcellio Scaber that I've been trying to cross breed. This is the one with the most unusual pattern and the highest contrast in said pattern. I've also found one of my orange P.Scabers with a really nice spotted pattern. So, that'sโฆ read more

A bright shadow, or a shadow brightly?
Essentially it's Dark vs Light here. I would like to see a combination of these two. The idea is that the darker grey mixes in to deepen the contrast. And the other two colours highlight the patterns.

Another attempt at breeding the perfect tricolour Porcellio Scaber.
I decided to consolidate two of the containers. Some with the new batch of pure Orange and pure White P.Scabers, with a heavy dose of selected mottled examples. The Grey gene is already decently strong and shows up as the primary contrasting colour. So, there's no pure Greys in there. But, I'veโฆ read more

Isopod says moo?
I couldn't get a "Dairy Cow" without paying through the nose for import. But, I can accidentally have a freebie White Porcellio Scaber breed with a common Grey P.Scaber, for the same effect. And then again with a White x Orange P.Scaber to create a darker variant. First shots are White x Greyโฆ read more

Arachnophobia warning
Found this spider outside my moms house, carrying her babies around. Fun fact about this, its hard dealing with this situation especially since you cant kill them because the babies are too small to squish and if you try the cup and paper method the mother will let them run free out of defense. Armadillidium Vulgare
Since finding the 3-4 plain grey pill beetles. I've found some nice looking ones in my enclosures. These are the best examples. Some are almost a gold colour entirely.

Birthday celebration
I went to an oddities market for my 32 birthday and got to make the display for this beautiful Madagascan Sunset Moth, pin this beautiful Common bluebottle butterfly and bought myself a little glass with the most wee butterfly ever in it.

Assortley Crew
Reassessing the isopodium situation. I've got a few nice spotted buggers growing big. And one super large Orange x Grey P.Scaber. if I can just that to cross with a White. I may just have that Koi design come through.

Male of Mexican black widow
Ventral view of a male Latrodectus occidentalis, a species of Mexican black widow, under the microscope.

What is it?
To this day I'm still a little befuddled by this beautiful little grub, I'm on the side of it being a beetle larvae cause of the front but can't really be sure and haven't been able to find anything. Found in Sevilla. Anyone know?

Super late Valentine's Day gift I just finished!
I just finished decorating the beetles I had pinned so that me and my long distance boyfriend have matching beetles!

Motley Cr...Bunch.
I'm really liking some of these colour combinations. (edited)

Jumping buddy
I tried to add a yellow butted jumping spider to my large terrarium. He got away just as I got him to the lip of the tank.

Little Scabuddies
The spotted Porcellio Scaber tribe grows! I couldn't find the 3 best (tricolour) examples in my enclosures. But, I do have a pic of the rest. And half of them are heavily bearing young. The first pic is the best shot I could get of one of the White x Grey combo's. That one has a more dalmatianโฆ read more

Isopod feed.
Apparently isopods really like eating the woodier parts of asparagus stems.

Isopodlets
Good news. In my micro enclosure, Every single one of these fine examples of Porcellio Scaber is nymph bearing. A few of them have some Orange banding/spots around the back end. And one of them is partially more Orange than the rest. Their pattern typing is more akin to dalmatian with the oddโฆ read more
