Chanterelle haul
Another three hour hike with my partner yielded nearly ten pounds of chanterelles! (edited)

Old Manโs Beard
Not a lot of foraging in winter where I am. Not a lot of snow, but there were a handful of windy days. Was able to snag some usnea fallen from nearby spruce. Very good for topical applications after infusing with oil.

Wild Ramps Yummm๐คค

NYC
Foraging in the middle of the city can be tricky. But I like to forage in Prospect Park. Found a variety of mushrooms including oysters and chicken of the woods. Garlic mustard, burdock root.
Foraged camas blooming
I planted three สรญสtxสทaส (this app won't allow Salish, but I am obstinate) last year. All three bulbs sprouted, only this baby bloomed. I foraged to eat, but did not find the time to bake them. Naturally, I planted them in my apartment garden. This is an important food plant to us.

๐ณ Found these by the church
Didn't expect such good finds so close to home, saved myself a 4 hour trip to the woods

Whatโs your favorite thing to forage?
FUNGI! Specifically lions mane. When I forage, I mostly look for mushrooms, but also grab berries and medicinal Pam to.
Blackberry Jam
Yummy.

First time finding chanterelles in the wild
Got to go foraging for wild mushrooms with an experienced guide. It was an amazing experience, and something I've been trying to cross off my bucket list for years now. Found Slippery Jack's, Boelettes, russalas, and chanterelles, which were delicious.

Wild Mushrooms
Pretty great finds on the trail yesterday ๐

Devilโs Club
Cousin of panax ginseng, devilโs club grows in the northwest of the United States. Prolific in Alaska and used for a host of medicinal applications, I harvest the green inner cambium, dry the pieces, then either infuse oil with the bark for salves or enjoy it as a tea. Steeped in milk, it can makeโฆ read more

๐ฟ Ball-o-Chickweed ๐ฟ
Big ole ball of Wild Chickweed It always makes a big comeback this time of year ๐ And nobody uses it ๐คท๐ผ But consider- Two handfuls of microgreens at the store will cost you easily $8-$12 Plus, plus, plus, Chickweed is more palatable. No joke, these 'weeds' are tasty yo ๐ง๐ผ Made one ball forโฆ read more

Any recipes for Bidens Alba (Spanish Needle/ Beggar Tick)
It is a prevalent weed here and while I nibble the younger leaves and have thought about eventually trying a curry stir fry I just canโt think of much to make it less bitter. During the summer it is so abundant it seems a waste not to utilize it more. It also has medicinal properties.
A little mushroom action froma few months ago
Some sautรฉed wild oyster mushrooms with dinner. Bone apple teeth

Pawpaw season is ON
Anyone else getting good luck?

Chantarelles
First flush of chantarelles of the season. All we need is a wash of rain and there will be many, many more.

Western salsify
