When we are kids, we make friends simply by introducing ourselves, asking the new friend their name, and then asking if they want to play. Simple. As adults, we see someone interesting and we introduce ourselves, ask their name, and then we begin learning each oother's backstory, relationship status, likes/dislikes, political or religious opinions, allergies, how dysfunctional our families are, the names of our pets and/or children, where we work, hobbies, what types of movies/music/food/games we like, IPhone or Android, and a billion other things that kinda "matter", but at the same time, don't. Yes, I do understand that as adults we have learned a lot of things we didn't know as children-- how to manipulate each other, how to mask ourselves, how to be a predator or prey. We have learned how to shield ourselves from becoming emotionally invested in each other. I get it. But I still wish it was as easy as when we were kids.

Honestly I think it's just the energy required for social investment to form a connection. By the time we come back from work we dont have the same amount of free time when we did as kids. There is not just homework. There are responsibilities/chores that need to be done before we can have free time. By the time those chores are done you are way too tired to go out and "hang out". You just need some me time that doesn't involve anybody. Or maybe that's just mine old lazy antisocial ass. Most importantly you no longer have the ability to stay up until 2, wake up at 5 and still be a functional coherent member of society.
