Next time you want to ask or answer a question online, consider adding a factual source instead of just giving your word. Words are cheap, especially online and don't take it the wrong way but I don't believe you.

From what I've observed, these days people are mostly only asking for sources when they are looking for excuses to write off arguments they disagree with. There's little true debate these days - it's moreso just an opportunity to say to yourself, "ah ha! This person that I disagree with got their information from xy incredibly biased source that I personally disagree with, so it MUST be wrong!" Few people seem truly interested in questioning their own understanding of the world and embracing opportunities to learn new things, or in appreciating views from an alternative perspective. I do agree it would be nice though to see people backing up their statements with their original source. People do be talking out of their a$$ a lot online so posting sources would be a decent way to identify those who are actually participating in the conversation with good faith, and those who are just agitators making shi up cause "it do be funny" 🙄

It helps if you actually ask for a source too. If someone is posting common misinformation about elections or vaccines or other topics that people have a variety of wrong opinions on, we already know that seeing clear evidence that they’re wrong does not change people’s minds. Just ask people where they’re getting their information from.

I don't know, if it's sourced from academia it's mostly fine. But the person needs to read the whole study. As for news sources or Wikipedia, I tend to not trust those, as they are very incestuous, they tend to copy each other, almost verbatim. I'd take an anecdote over those sources any day. But I get the gist of your argument though.
