Maharaj (Hindi/2024/ Netflix) Review
After recent incidents like the Hathras stampede case and others (you know what), this film (surprisingly) coming from Yash Raj Films becomes ultra-relevant and a must watch for its grit and guts. Based on a real-life incident in the 19th century, the film showcases a daring journalist taking on an influential godman. The direction is somewhat lacklustre, but the writing is powerful. The dialogue (Vipul Mehta and Sneha Desai) surpasses the screenplay and packs a lot of punch, for they stand and sound relevant in today's troubled times. Junaid Khan in his low-key debut, despite missing some hardening, leaves some impact and matches to some extent to Jaideep Ahlawat's excellence as Jadunath Maharaj, who is a tyrannical gentleman in disguise. Skip the songs if you want, but don't miss this film. #bollywood #cinema #film #movies #netflix
