Rate the Film: 2006’s Freedomland
Where would you rate Freedomland? Feel free to express your thoughts and opinions in the comments. For me: ⭐️. Based on the book by Richard Price, this film is one example of lost in translation. It’s messy film with a disjointed story, plot points that go nowhere or side line, and a tone that can’t decide between between being a crime thriller or a social drama as it does, or at least tries, to tackle racial issues. While it does have Samuel L. Jackson and Julianne Moore, the writing and direction doesn’t do them much favors and Julianne Moore overacts quite a lot in the film. Overall I just found it a very dull messy film to sit through. I remember the trailers more than this film that even made it look like something supernatural was going on and you can even feel that in the poster below. I never read the book, but I say read that and don’t see this film (unless your very curious). Was not loved by critics and audiences and, keep in mind, the director Joe Roth is the same director who did Christmas with Kranks and Revenge of Nerds 2. (edited)

The office felt like a mix of a happy place and a scary movie. Ideas were flowing, but every sound and shadow made it feel full of suspense. Btw my fav genre is horror, suspense, action+comedy.
