John Conway and Simon Kochen together proved so-called free will theorem, which states that if human behavior is not a function of the past, then neither are those of quantum elementary particles (such as a photon), under certain (experimentally verifiable) axioms of quantum mechanics. Easily put, if you believe in human free will, then particles have free will. Or if you believe particles can only behave in a determined manner, then human activities are predetermined as well. I like what it's grasping at. The support for free will of particles based on such a high level, compound observation of human free will seems pretty fragile. I feel like conclusions about particle free will would come first, no? If we find a way to reliably predict change in quantum particles, the converse of this theory - that because we can predict the future of any given particle, there is no human free will - is probably more useful. But this is all just speculation with armchair knowledge. Cool stuff!
