Do you ever do text based roleplaying with another?

I was thinking last night and realized around 80% of all relationships I have ever gotten into started as RP arrangements. I don't feel like they are that normal nor commonplace, but have found them to be great for learning about another. For any unaware, they are essentially text based stories where both participants have a role and alternate the progression of the story together. It is used for real life scenarios, fantasy, bedroom fun, or even things too extreme to ever do in a real context. Learn a lot about a person by how they react and go about certain things and the average person after one is normally quite open and sociable. Sometimes the conversations after are more insightful than anything done during. Been doing them for 9 years now and they have definitely kept me sane in my adult life.

I'm a roleplayer in FFXIV. Primarily RP storylines and some DMed campaigns. I ERP every now and then but I feel like a lot of people here think RP = ERP.

I've done text based roleplay since I was probably 9 or 10. It's definitely my biggest hobby! I used to be super worried about talking about it because of the stigma that it's only sexual. Most of my stories aren't. Some of my closest friends are people I've met and written various stories with for years. I've had international friends come visit. It's been a really fun, positive way for me to meet people. 😊 I've never had a romantic relationship with someone who roleplayed as well, but it would be awesome to have a partner who also enjoyed it and understood my love for writing.
