CW: blood, gore, MC is insane, psychological vampirism --- Just as his consciousness wavered, he felt a sympathetic hand brush his hair from his face and her parting words were blending in with the nonsensical whispers from the corridor. They waited on the edges of his mind for him to go to sleep before they took over. The frozen touch of those whispers washed away any warmth her words had held, rising until they drowned her out completely. His dreams dripped in blood; the sharpness of it rolled over his tongue like an old friend. The crunch of bone and tearing of flesh welcomed him home. He could feel things break under his jaws, his canines finally stopped aching, and the never-ending need in his throat finally felt sated. Maalik paused and tilted his head; he heard the tap of a shoe. He turned his attention as a person approached him, whether it was a man or woman he couldn’t tell, but as he stared crouched down over his kill, they quickly fell back, screaming and pointing. He was a monster, face covered in the blood of his victim and within seconds others were hurrying out from a doorway at the edge of the room, converging upon him. But he expected it— monsters were always driven out, weren’t they?
