What are some taboo subjects to talk about??
Ill start: suic!de. It's triggering, understandable, but it's so frowned apon to talk about that people who feel this way cant talk to anyone about it. Feelings, trauma and mental health issues are stigmatised to the point where if you say anything to anyone its instantly: you're coping fine; don't be selfish; how many people would YOU hurt; other people have it worse; that didn't happen; you're gaslighting yourself; there's bigger problems in the world; your issues don't matter; if you mean it, do it; this certain group of people have it worse than your group of people. Sometimes all someone needs is someone to vent to; to release all the pent up thoughts and feelings; to have no filter. It is PHYSICALLY painful to keep everything in because no one wants to hear it. Please keep that in mind when someone comes to you wanting to talk 😥

I feel like in some places it is becoming more of a thing to talk about, however it is still taboo as you say. I think we as a society need to develop a culture of caring about each other more in general. It's very individualistic I feel like nowadays and it's not entirely our fault I guess the way society is set up nowadays. As for a taboo thing I have noticed living in the US is the matter of race. sometimes it feels like it's on the two ends of extreme with no balance in between. It's either people blinding themselves from race and color or people being racist and prejudiced. For example when I was a kid in elementary school (predominantly black) I pointed out how all the kids in my row were black except me and some ppl called me racist. I only said that as an observation and I thought it was just funny/interesting not thinking much of it but that was one of the first times I got exposed to how sensitive the topic of race is here. (I grew up in a Kurdish(middle eastern) household and didnt know that much about American culture lol) although it was probably an unnecessary thing I said but i definitely had no intentions of racism or anything at all Anyway I just think some people get called racist unnecessarily and I understand the history and paranoia behind it, but now some people are afraid of saying anything at all in order to not be called racist. And while black people here are definitely more discriminated against, the opposite happens too, like one of my professors who were white got attacked in a predominantly black neighborhood for being white. I think it's just sad and tragic how cruel humans can be to each other based on something they can't even control. Anyway I'm not sure how this problem can be fixed but I guess that's one of the sort of taboo things I can think of lol
