Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds
Recently listening to this musical version of H.G. Wells' book about a Martian invasion of Earth. Just as good as I remember. The singing and performances by a number of good names in the industry added to the memorable, forbidding and atmospheric narration by Richard Burton. Also stunning artwork in the booklet provided by Geoff Taylor, such as the cover painting featuring HMS Thunder Child. (Possibly interesting trivia: the ship in the book described as a "torpedo-ram" ironclad based upon the real HMS Polyphemus much smaller than what appears to be a Canopus class pre-dreadnought battleship illustrated here). A bit of artistic licence in this case is fine though! All said and done, a very enjoyable listen. (edited)
