I just joined Boo last night. Thought it would be nice to start my first post by sharing a story in this community 🙂 I received an unusual gift (or reward) for closing off a task at work today. It took me 4 months to do so - it was to craft a video script from scratch, just in time for the video production. We did it! And when we had our sync up (meetings) today, my boss brought this odd pink Tupperware into the meeting room, aside to his usual laptop only, passing it to me only after we ended the meeting. “For the script well done,” I was like, “Sorry, what’s this for?” “The script, I told you I will get you the veggie chips as a reward when you’re done” Being as a typical INTJ, I did not have the right response on my face nor in my words. All I could do was throw forth some friendly banter, thanked him and went back to my place. After all the laughter, I stared at this container filled with multitudes of colors. It’s not usual for our boss to gift us things (maybe it’s due to his culture) and on top of that we are entitled to our salary! But hey, this snack comprises of his appreciation for staff and not to mention how he had always tried to avoid showing favoritism at work. I was touched, truly I am. I can’t imagine how awkward it was for him to ‘hijack’ his wife’s Tupperware for this and he reminded me to return the container to him else his wife would kill him (Tupperware here in this context kinda supersede family, it’s a set thingy for collection). And I playfully replied him, “Sure, I will pass it back to you next year” (it’s already the 28th Dec and I’m going on leave till next year!) He’s been taking care of me like a dad as he knows my family are 2,560 km away and I haven’t seen them for quite a while now. It’s cool to have such a boss, a mentor to look up to. Always being so patient with me and my 1,001 questions. I’m glad I made it for the scriptwriting, on top of that, I’m immensely proud of the veggie chips. It meant so much more and I’m truly looking forward to pay this forward.
