Ramadan fasting/feasting?

A question from Biblical Christian, first of all, wish you a happy Ramadan to all Muslims here, In Biblical ChristianIty according to the Bible, fasting is not eating for certain periods of time or eating only certain kinds of foods and doing so with the purpose of focusing on praying and meditating on God and God's Word and through it fighting sin and you are less tempted to sin, when the body and the mind are focused on God (Jesus's example of fasting recorded in Matthew 4 is great example where Jesus fast without eating any food for 40 days in a row and also John the Baptist for great part of his life while living in a dessert ate only what he could find there and many other prophets) So while looking and observing Muslims around me during this Islamic holiday, since I live in majority Muslim populated place, I was wondering and even confused how is it fasting, by what definition, standard and logic, to not eat from sunrise till sunset, but prior to sunrise and after sunset to bulge in food and overeating yourself and acting like the biggest glutton... This is not my opinion, science and statistics prove this, in Islamic countries populated mainly by Muslim population, you have most emergency ambulance cases due to overeating and there are most deaths caused by overeating during the Ramadan "fast"/feast period, and that's the impression as non Muslim I'm getting, since I live in a majority Muslim populated place I'm perplexed and confused how is this even fasting and why do Muslims over eat themselves that much during their Ramadan fasting and as a consequence many end up dead and what the Quran and the trustworthy Hadiths say about it?

When it comes to fasting for Ramadan, it’s there holiday time that all Muslims including me to be looking forward too, whereas the fasting, your doing this in the name of Allah(god) to keep the inside of your body clean, and would follow these 5 prayers in different times, fujr, Dhuhr, Asr, Magrib and Isha. And as for overeating well, Muslims wants to get as much food and liquids inside them until they can start again fasting next day

In fact the islamic teachings don't advise at all the feasting and over eating during iftar, rather it commands humility, the main purpose of Ramadan is to make people more empathetic towards the less fortunate, the feast should be on Eid, the last day of Ramadan wich is a Holy day in which it is forbidden to fast as a reward, it is taught us that prophets (pbut) before Mohammed (pbuh) were commanded to fast and we have the same in a different way since we believe in progressive revelation and each prophet came with a message befitting his time, hence Muhammed (pbuh) is the last with the last revelation for humanity which give us the new way of fasting. I personally lose lots of weight during Ramadan, since when you do it properly you can't even eat that much during the night, since the stomach becomes smaller due to less eating. God does not like the ones who eccedes, there for those who overeat they do it at their own detriment, may Allah guide them, and Allah know best. Happy Easter to you brother.
