Greatest Rock Drummer
Many people would say Neal Peart is the greatest Rock drummer ever. But was he? There is no doubt Neal was by far and away the most technically gifted drummer by a wide wide margin. But does that constitute being the greatest rock drummer ever? To me, it is about more than technical gifts or just sheer reckless energy fueled banging. It is about embodying everything that rock'n'roll represents. Because of this I say, without a shadow of a doubt, Keith Moon was the greatest rock drummer ever. Keith was everything a rock drummer should be. I would Ginger Baker, however, Ginger was much more of jazz drummer which would put him in an entirely different category of drummer. What's your thoughts on this?

Personal favorite was Alex Rodriguez (not the baseball player) of Saosin. First drummer that made me notice the drums amidst all the other things going on and go wow. I'm also impressed with Branden Steineckert (ex-The Used, Randcid) His father was a drummer, but he did not take any lessons. When his father died, he picked up the sticks and wanted to smash things. Got kicked out of his band for wanting to stay sober. His story is impressive, but so is his drumming ability.
