Think about it. It's human nature to keep changing and keep wanting different things. EXCEPT for raising a family, why stay with the same person? Sure you can argue that a person who is solely devoted to you, fulfills your desire for commitment, but I would argue it's healthier to have multiple different people to fulfill different needs, so that you don't put too much of a burden on one person (your significant other). **update: if you do so, make it very clear exactly what you want from each person, and be sure that they agree and accept it first By doing so you can be a happier person knowing that you have a very strong support system.... each person can specialize in fulfilling a different need (or set of needs), ie. company, sex, romance, friendship, advice, finances, and so on. Open, consensual, and well-informed relationships support that belief. If all your (actual) needs are fulfilled, would you be happier compared to a strictly monogamous relationship that doesn't fulfill you? (edited)

Polyamory is the relationship equivalent of communism. It sells the ideology for the opportunity to abuse the victims who but it. It's tedious to type all the details.. basically: you invest in relationships. The broader that investment, the more cheap and shallow they become. If you really loved a person, you wouldn't want another. It's not even a kind of love, it's using ppl as resources.
