I never understood this. Do neurotypical people think autistic people look deformed? Do they think it's only a thing that happens in your childhood? Is it supposed to be a fashion collection at H&M?

As someone with autism i have been told this before. Honestly I think it's a lack of understanding or willingness to understand the topic. Autistic individuals don't necessarily have to look different but when understand the topic you can know what to keep an eye out for. It also depends on where of the spectrum the individual is. While I may be high funtioning there are still "ticks" that if someone knows to look for they can be found. Good topic :)

I love how when I’m in public with my noise cancelling headphones everyone around me just assumes I’m completely deaf 🧏‍♂️ to their voices. Lady in front of me at the grocery store: I can hear you talking about me behind my back when I’m staring right at you!
