Idealize Community

Unpopular opinion, but Paul Bloom's *Against Empathy* is onto something in that it's attacking a darker reality most people won't touch. 🤔

I was raised to practically worship empathy, but I realized that feeling doesn't always translate to caring. My own life experiences and what I've observed on anonymous apps have given me plenty of reasons to question the way we idealize empathy. 🤔 (edited)

Do we idealize and romantize relationships?

We end up not finding "the one" because we keep looking for something that only exists in our imagination, and we end up with nothing, or maybe we can find someone but by the time we do, our prime is already passed and we are not what they are looking for. Agree or disagree with this?

Humans should not idealize or follow someone blindly just because they seem cool, intelligent, or funny. Instead, they should create their own identity rather than living through the shadow of someone else.

connecting to another person means understanding that they are human and capable of mistakes. understand that they have a shadow that needs to be acknowledged, as well as a lifetime of conditioning and programming to recognize and release. don’t idealize your partners, allow them humanity.
