This may just be a me thing but then again maybe not. People who post pictures consistently of themself holding an alcoholic beverage say to me that that's a priority in their life. I don't see it as, 'this one time they went out and were happy that one occasion while dressup looking good'. I would rather see the just dressed up looking sharp photo no drink in hand. Am I on my own with this thought?

That depends on the context. I'd clearly flag that as odd if it's a consistent behavior, but why not if those are uncommon occasions. A friend of mine said the same when she "validates" my profile pictures : "there's a crate of beers in the background, remove that!"
