I was bullied as a kid - I was fat, smart, had glasses, had braces, was a teacher's pet, volunteered in the library, was part of the chess/debate teams. I hated it at the time; well, I was terrified, particularly after my wrist was broken in gym class by one of my bullies, but I wouldn't change it for the world. Life is rough. It can be hard, and challenging, and there are people out there who will make your life miserable if they can because that is just their nature (we sometimes call them bosses). The thing is, bullying prepared me for this in a way that nothing else did. No lessons from my parents, no other experience prepared me to face the harsh realities of life that bullying did, and strangely enough I am grateful for having gone through that particular crucible. What I think is more important than stopping bullying (good luck on that Quixotic mission) is teaching people how to manage it more effectively; giving them the tools to turn into a strength, not a weakness or victimization mindset. Maybe I'm wrong here, but I don't think I am.

They pass on the pain they feel onto others. Like they're self-conscious they are behind in school, so they pick on the smart kid. This 2-minute Key and Peele skit explains it perfectly. https://youtu.be/lwvqCIAAd-M

This is so funny 😅 but i think sometimes it happens because they are protecting their insecurities onto you? I'm not sure how that helps anyone though.
