Fighting Perceptions Gone Wrong

"Smart people talk less, and fools talk a lot" "Smart people don't show their smart, only dumb people do it" You know, there is this perception that people who talk a lot and brag their intelligence is actually a dumb person. Since I was a kid, I often watch smart and good people often being shown timid and humble and exudes innocence. They even go to the length of denying their intelligence and kindness when being confronted about it. Saying stuff like "I'm not that smart/ not that kind", yet they actually do, and it pisses me off for some reason. It inspired me to be a smart person who talks a lot and being honest of my intelligence and my kindness. That sparks started at the end of my elementary. I stay true to my conviction throughout my high school years. And yeah, after years of being portrayed as "an arrogant guy who act like he's better than the others even though he's dumb and pathetic", I ended up become unsure of my own intelligence. Not doubting my kindness though, being treated like that actually increased my confidence that I AM better than these people in kindness. I flop a lot. I easily panic under pressure. When trying to prove my intelligence to people who doubt my claim, I often get nervous and makes mistake. This led people to think that I'm all-talk and just another arrogant dumb kid. This led me to think that I might actually be dumb. But everytime I think I'm dumb, yet I keep being able to understand things better than most, I got confused. Am I smart or am I dumb? Later after graduating high school I tried taking a paid IQ test. I cried. And just to make sure, I take another IQ test. I cried again. Though the score is different, I always ended in the "Above Average but Not Genius" spectrum, which consists of less than 20%. So, apparently, I am smart? Nowadays, I toned down my "arrogance", but I still can't help my already established character. I am still the "kid who acts like he is better than the others", at least that's how people perceive me, even today. What's the point of this story? Don't be like me, trying to fight the commonality, you'll get beaten by society. It doesn't matter that you are right. At the end of the day, what matters most is how people perceive you. (edited)

Holy balls, I was planning to make it a short story. I didn't expect it to be this long. I guess I do talk a lot, huh. (edited)
