ADVOCACY
For about half a century now, SSI has been needlessly holding disabled Americans below the poverty line under pain of disabled people being forced to pay for our medications (which are way too expensive without Medicaid, but that's another story). If it were up to me, I'd put every last leech in the government on SSI, Medicaid, HUD vouchers, and have their assets at next to nothing, as is the case for SSI and Medicaid recipients. We need, not want, NEED to help Sherrod Brown push this legislation through for the good of every single person receiving SSI (there are millions and millions of us)! $2,000 for a single individual and $3,000 for a married couple (THE MARRIAGE PENALTY) is draconian at best, and I'm not feeling generous. We should impose a stricter legislation upon politicians (who have free choice to be in politics or not, but get rich doing it) than we have on disabled people. The only way for us to save more than $2,000 is to pay "maintenance fees" (AKA THEFT) to have our money invested in portfolios we have no control over. We need to end this. SUPPORT SHERROD BROWN AND SUPPORT THE SSA RESTORATION ACT IN ITS ENTIRETY (NOT THE GUTTED VERSION THAT EXISTS NOW)! Yes, I'm a little livid about it. (edited)

Not knowing is scary
I've recently become disabled. My legs began to lose motor function exponentially over the course of a month. Doctors found that I had L4-S1 herniated discs, with damage normally seen in car accidents or in the elderly. I'm 2 months out from surgery, but my legs still barely move or feel. We're... read more

I have trouble moving, walk very... read more
