A little rant about marriage

Question

I know everyone can have different opinions regarding this, as anyone can go through different experiences and disagree. I just need to get this off my chest for some reason, so it's not that deep.

I don't like to generalize or assume that this is the case for all, but most people go into marriage with the wrong intentions or mindsets. The worst thing anyone can do is marry someone for their "potential", or what that person could become once they commit, and not actually see them for who they truly are like and understand what they actually provide. It's true that people can change and grow over time, but signing a binding contract and compromising in the hopes that this person will eventually turn their life around or fit more into your ideal is delusional. This applies to both men and women in relationships, but it seems that women are more at a disadvantage in that kind of situation, especially when there are kids in the equation. A woman may dedicate her body, energy, and time to be the best wife, cook, caretaker, and work hours of free labor as a stay at home mother, just for her and her child to be abondoned because the father doesn't like her anymore or decides to go for a younger or attractive woman. It's nowadays that women got the chance to pursue their education and get their own bank account as a way to establish some sense of autonomy, but if a woman has nothing to fall back on she's either doomed to the risk of struggling as a single mother, or to live as an indentured servant under the mercy of her husband. Only a lucky few end up with a man who genuinely and consistently cares for them no matter what, but even that situation is not reliable because men, just like anyone else, are susceptible to tragedies like illness or financial problems. Therefore, it is wrong to enter any kind of marriage without having any backup for financial or personal autonomy or to base one's entire life plan around a person. It's important to have support systems and to be embraced by a community which opens your eyes to different possibilities and to see things from a different perspective as well, so that you can always find the strength and resolve to stand up for yourself when necessary.

I personally don't even like the idea of getting married. Like, sure, there's some legal mumbo jumbo and some benifits to being legally married, but the idea of basically signing a contract to say you love someone is a little strange to me. Not to mention the fact that if you decide to go your seperate ways, there's an intensive legal process to do it, rather than just saying your goodbyes and that being that. I fully believe that there's someone for everyone out there, and that love can last until death, but I myself don't want the marriage, just the person.

Well that definitely was an interesting read. All I really have to say is, have open and honest communication with each other. I've personally have learned in life to just be a straight forward person in all aspects of life it makes it way easier to live life. If ever given such a wonderful opportunity to be and have someone so fantastic in life would be the best feeling in the entire universe. So sorry for my random rant.
