As far as the old country I always go with the legends, I have lived in Oklahoma so it's more than just music, we always had a bunch of country stations and a couple that played rock. I am a burnout at this point. That said Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Patsy Cline are all phenomenal. In the last few years the only new country I have liked is Chris Stapleton and I thinks that's because he sounds like old country.

The best recommendation I can give consists of two of the best songwriters to walk this earth; Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt. So many tragically beautiful tunes that still manage to include witty humor. You can't go wrong with these two. The original Poncho & Lefty, To live is to fly, dead flowers, LA Freeway, Cold dog soup, the Guitar, Stuff that works, so many great tunes...
