Some nerd stuff,

I stumbled across a video talking about the difference in digital recording and analog recording back when digital was reletively new. And I got to thinking why digital sounded better than analog and I realised why they went digital. Audio recorded on tape suffers from noise and other limitations of the medium. So to work around those limitations they decided instead of recording audio straight onto the tape they would record a digital representation of 0s and 1s. Doing this almost completely goes around any issues using tape might cause since now you don’t have noise issues anymore and other things like the timbre of the sound almost won’t be affected. Basically you would be able to record almost perfectly what went into your inputs. It was a kind of clarity analog just couldn’t live up to . Long story short. Digital back then was miles ahead of analog. It has only gotten better since.
