I have no idea where to start. I'm going to an event with friend as her plus one. It's a historical around the world theme. And on the invite OT says the guest ( it doesn't specify of its only people from company or the other guests) should dress up. Today we were talking about dresses and stuff, since she likes sewing. I sent her this dress patterned I found and she loved it. When I joked she should make it for the event. She said she already had a dress idea and she didn't have the material to make the dress defensively, I told her I assumed she did and it was just a joke. Which only caused her to tell me I shouldn't assume things. Then I sent her my idea and she said it wouldn't suite me and I should go for another style( this was after she mentioned she hoped I wasn't going to do 1920/60 because that's her idea.) Which lead to her ranting how in the first place I shouldn't actual be there. She only got permission from her boss so other people can attend. I just got annoyed and angry, I tend to go quiet when people want to argue. So I just said fine okay. Idk tbh if I'm still in the mood to go

If she's a good friend, in your opinion, then I would talk about it. Something like: Hey, sorry I assumed, that was wrong and I never meant to offend you. It hurt when you told me my idea didn't suit me. I would have liked for you to support me. It felt like an attack when you said I shouldn't be there and it hurt my feelings. I was appreciative that you had invited me to the event, and I thought - and still think - we could have a lot of fun. Do you still want me to go? If she's typically combative like this and often flies off the handle at little things, then I'd honestly be considering if I want to remain her friend, and would send her something like: Thank you for inviting me to this event, but I don't think I will be attending. I thought it would be a fun excursion for us. Unfortunately, you're quite serious about this and I'm not sure if I'll enjoy it. I hope you have a wonderful time.
