It has never been an issue that I seen both sides but it does lead to me struggling to make a decision especially ones like this where I can see the educational system we have now creates obedience in for example walking in a straight line in the hallways, and raising your hand when you have a question, it teaches to wait your turn before talking, or if you dont want to look at it that way it teaches you to listen more talk less. Obdeience to stop at a stop sign. I can now see the other side if and of course some things would stay in the change, but maybe adding time for meditation. Adding a stock market exchange course. Teaching financial planning, and how to set goals. The art of being organized. I cant count on my hands how many messy backpacks I’ve seen. Teaching guys how to write less messy.

Ideal? Depends from which angle you look at it.
- Coming from a country of 5-million our educational system has been praised from the BBC, The Guardian, to NYT/CNN/etc, and former US presidents.

We do a lot of things well, press is that a lot of countries regard our system as "ideal".
- For me it isn't and I see a lot of flaws in it, but when compared to others... I see where their praise comes from.

Is it good? To a degree. Do I think it could be better? Absolutely.

So coming from a country that's being lauded as having one of the best school systems in the world, even I have complaints and I find it being not-ideal =P

I don't know if there's an ideal educational system, but there are some that are objectively better than others at specific things.

If you want people to be indoctrinated, then education based on indoctrination is going to be ideal. If you want kids to learn how to read, we have a pretty good understanding of how to teach that.

To test whether one educational system is more ideal than another, we have to first describe what the ideal result is.
