Cover songs...

Ok similar to the movie question, is there a cover song better than the original? I can think of maybe 3 but what do you all say?

It's subjective, but I usually find value in both versions. Heard this earlier today for the first time: September by Taylor Swift https://youtu.be/KnDnphYTb0Q And it's on banjo!

I definitely prefer Gary Jules' cover a lot more. I actually thought Tears For Fears was the cover version before lol. But i do like both. I prefer Dolly Parton's original, however. Diva vocals with too much unnecessary input don't really sit well with me.

While I like both versions of the song, I enjoy Jimi Hendrix’s cover of All Along the Watchtower more than the original by Bob Dylan. https://youtu.be/TLV4_xaYynY

Definitely. Most of the songs from the Punk Goes Pop albums are much better, in my opinion. Then there are stuff like Natalie Imbrouglia's Torn, which is 1000x more known than the original. I'd say the cover i feel sounds better than the original by the largest margin is Yuna's cover of Drake's 'Hold On, We're Going home.' A cover i like better than the original, while still liking the original a whole lot would be Black Veil Brides' cover of Billy Idol's 'Rebel Yell.' The song fits the theme of both musicians perfectly; in two different eras. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/17KT9Tim6BJsvtjSYa4Ugi?si=4EyUKXWXR8yXh25R5hR2MA&utm_source=copy-link

If you like those Punk goes Pop albums you might like this one. It’s Taylor Swift’s We’re never getting back together. But metal core cover by a Japanese band. https://youtu.be/1TUpPQTlGMU

@C.R.Mıʇʇǝns I might like the original better, actually haha. Sometimes, bands overdo it. This is an example 😝. Also, not much of a fan of deathcore. It's listenable, though. Go and get Spotify; promise it's worth it haha. I've got a playlist full of worthy covers.

Sound of Silence by Disturbed is probably the best cover ever. Simon and Garfunkel wish they could have done it that good. Black Magic Woman is literally what made Santana famous but Peter Green from Fleetwood Mac could shred the guitar in the OG Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" I Love Dolly But Whitney could sing. My most controversial one is Stevie Ray Vaughan's Voodoo Child is kinda lit and I think it slaps better then Jimi Hendrix.
