The concept of starting a new conversation with just "hey"
As a male I think this is good way to get a response to check if the other person is interested. Ladies I would like to hear your thoughts, change my mind!

The truth is: doesnt mater what you say, looks, interest, how you describe yourself are really important (asuming you are dm'ng a lady you liked that didnt give previous match) Let's say you actually match, "hey" is really flat. May be better "Hey I see You also like Iron Maiden, have You seen them live?" (Or whatever interest this person has) And this is obvious but avoid "hey gorgeous/pretty/queen/etc ... (edited)

Ladies usually have a lot of guys hitting them up. It can be a competition for her attention. So "hey" seems a little generic. Unless she sees value in your profile or something, it won't be much motivation for her to do much. But I would recommend putting a little more effort just to stand out (for the ones that you are really interested in, so you don't waste time and energy). And if it works out in the end, it'll be a sweet memory between you two π but either way, just treat it like a game of chance and polishing up your communication skills π
