Because people are bored, and low-key enjoy some flavor of conflict, imo.

Because those who are engaged in fights have an active limbic system, which knocks out most of the nervous systems working memory.. so once you are an engaged in a fight, it doesnt even matter what or why you are fighting, the only thing that matters is, "I must win". This is the reason why differences in opinion often do not get anywhere between two people who have power complexes.. no matter how intelligent or rational they seem to be.. a person who is known to be very reasonable can be arguing something with someone that would otherwise be something he or she wiuld rationally agree with, but if the reasonable person has become enraged due to some recapitulated emotional fervor the other argumentator has triggered within him or her, it is intuitive to assume that a complex with an inferior function has taken over the otherwise usually reasonable personality.. it is very difficult and damn near impossible for anyone to think with reason or rationality without impartiality when being in a defensive state when arguing.. from a neuroscience perspective, when someone is confronted with a difference of opinion, if that person percieves this difference of opinion offensively as a direct confrontation, or as a personal attack on his character a defensive state is triggered. Once it has been registered in that manner the brain responds by releasing a chemical through the neurotransmitter norephinephrine, which is the same chemical thats released when a hunter is being attacked by an animal, and at the neural level, there is no difference between that or just an opinion.. even if they are thoughts that could easily be seen as agreeable.. This is due to the most ancient mechanisms in our brain present today which still act as a crucial tool instrumental to our survival.. but while it narrows our focus, makes us sharper physically and help us respond quicker, it also constricts our brain power, as most is reserved to only flow into whats called the 'mid-brain', and so the flow that goes towards our frontal cortex, responisble for empathy and decision making, is cut off.. This is whats called mental bandwidth, and when it is decreased in the brain due to the neurotransmitter norephinephrine, it physically causes narrow mindedness, making us less intelligent, and even lowering our IQ. The brain has trouble processing anything when we are locked into this state of mind.. and whats sad is that everyday we are bombarded with an infinate array of external environmental and societal impulse stimuli that perpetually locks us in this mental state.. its as if we are being engineered to look at the world through a lens of what we must take for ourselves, rather than through a lens of what we can give away.. an illusory lens of scarcity rather than seeing the world as it should be or is, as the reality of abundance..
