AI generates beautiful arts - what do you think about it?

In recent years, we've witnessed an extraordinary fusion of technology and artistry through the emergence of AI-generated art. This innovative medium has not only expanded the boundaries of creativity but also sparked a global conversation about the role of artificial intelligence in the realm of artistic expression. AI-generated art is created using complex algorithms that analyze vast datasets of existing artworks to synthesize new pieces. These algorithms, often powered by machine learning and neural networks, can mimic styles, patterns, and techniques of human artists, yet they also have the capacity to introduce entirely novel elements that might not naturally occur to the human mind. What is your stance on AI-generated art? Do you see it as a legitimate form of creative expression, or do you believe it undermines the value of human craftsmanship?

I don't think it's simple. I don't like the idea that society it stepping towards outsourcing that which makes us human. But I also believe this technology is very powerful and could be a very strong asset to real human artists to improve and inspire.

I just don't think it should be trained off of human art that wasn't designed to be used. I also don't think AI artist should be calling themselves "artist".

There is a few sides you can look at with ai art. First is the craftsmanship, using ai can be a good tool to use if done ethically. Use it to produce ideas, kind of like the sketching out process, generate loads of ideas then use those to inform a peice. If someone says that they are an artist and soley use ai to make their art, yes they are but that's like saying because I put up some flat pack furniture therefore I'm a carpenter. While I no longer practice art or animation, my mdd stopped that, i was fortunate enough to have a peice published in photoshop creative. People have a style, you cannot replace hand made with automation and expect the same in quality in return. It's the whole trade off of speed or quality. The other side to look at is this can, and possibly will, make not just a massive impact in the freelancing market for artists but also in the contracted artists lives within the art industry. Art is expensive. It takes time and skills to produce, a company will always err on the side of saving money, afterall it makes perfect business sense especially in this current financial climate. Why pay an artist thousands of pounds to create say 10 images of characters for concept art etc (I highly reccomend you look up the company atomhawk based in gateshead in the uk) when they could have an intern produce thousands in 1 day through ai. It needs a strong ethical use applied otherwise it could destroy the arts as we know it
