Are We Truly Upholding Our Hindu Marriage Vows? The Rising Divorce Rates Versus Sustainable Marriages Today

In a traditional Hindu wedding, the bride and groom make seven vows, known as "Saptapadi," around the sacred fire. Each vow has a specific meaning and significance: 1. Promise to provide for each other and the family. 2. Pledge to grow together in strength and health. 3. Commit to supporting each other in financial and material pursuits. 4. Vow to love and respect parents and elders and raise children with strong values. 5. Promise to be compassionate and responsible members of society. 6. Pledge to support each other in sickness and health. 7. Commit to eternal companionship, loyalty, and mutual respect. These vows symbolize the commitment to a lifelong partnership based on mutual respect, love, and understanding. Divorce is not inherently bad; it can be a necessary step for individuals to find personal happiness and growth. Staying in an unhealthy or unfulfilling marriage often leads to prolonged misery for both partners. Divorce allows individuals to start anew, fostering better mental health and well-being. The real issue often lies in the rush to marry without sufficient understanding of each other. Quick decisions in marriage can lead to mismatched expectations and unresolved conflicts. Taking time to know your partner deeply before committing can help build a stronger, more resilient relationship. This approach reduces the likelihood of divorce by ensuring that the foundation of the marriage is solid, based on mutual respect, understanding, and shared values. #love #relationship (edited)

I beg to differ decisions are more calculative these days Inspite this ,the rate is not diminishing rather it's opposite which means either of side see options to get away or to choose again at any point of time of this process for trivial reasons There are other facets as well ,not a expert

I dont think marriage has a place in our society anymore...its an old tradition and ive never been a fan of traditions that made no sense. If you love someone then just be with that someone...why all the vows, paper work, ceremonies. When obviously no one takes them seriously anymore. Just be with that person without the contract....but thats just my dumb opinion.

So I listen to people on the whole marriage topic. Part of why divorce is a rate that climbs higher and higher is due to the "no fault" divorce laws that are put into place.
