The difference between building failure and building success
Let me ask you something. What makes a game set it's world fit for success?. Most would say mechanics, characters or mabey just Verity but I think the true word is vagueness. The best comparison I have for games that represent 1 of each is the world of crash bandicoot and the world of Splatoon. The world of crash bandicoot fails because of how tight the world's limitations are at trying to make something new but in a way it doesn't break the world building like crash of the titans and mind over mutant. (I'm not saying this to diss the fans of the franchise like myself) I'm just saying that the Devs setted up too much too early into the series. Causing it to fail and run out too many ideas too fast Splatoon succeeds due to how vague the world is. Unlike crash and his depressed rival Splatoon sets up so little in a world that provides more questions than answers and best of all is how every faction in the world isn't really that evil as the game shows you on the surface. The octolings and octerians are a race just trying to survive from both exile and forever imprisonment and stole the great zapfish because it was 1 of their only way their kind could thrive, Mr grizz isn't evil because he believes that the cephalopods and sea life are evil and killed all mammals so he was trying to bring mammals back from extinction with what he had, even tartar and smolusk/order aren't evil because they just took their programming too far.
