I myself have been guilty of sabotaging relationships, heck, even friendships, all subconscious as deep down, I fear and overthink too much. Myself, it's not that I don't believe in love, I absolutely do. From a personal point, what is hard for me, is trust. When you are someone who has endured some of the cruellest of humanity, and you find yourself unable to expose yourself in a vulnerable light because that opens the chance for you to be hurt. Honestly, in my life, I've only become vulnerable 2 times, 10 years apart from one another. And both times have come to burn me, enforcing that I cannot trust, no matter how long I take to open up, no matter what I do, no matter how "good I am" as the words are, it's not enough. And it's proven... not enough. Do I believe in love? Absolutely! 100%. Do I believe in being loved, truly? I hold doubt, and that doubt comes from sheer experience. I could write an essay but I'll leave it at that 😅
