Ive always been a Tom but lately ive been turning more into Summer. Which is lowkey a freeing place to be in ngl

500 days of summer

What could have been a nail-biting cinematic fare ends up as a part-disappointment. Loosely based on the American Table-Tennis player Martin Reisman, the film focuses on his formative years, where he goes from a shoe-selling salesman to a successful player, where he has to defeat his Japanese contemporary. Now the gaming sequences in the film, plus the drama around it, are pacy and intriguing. But the film loses its plot in terms of being 'too personal', which makes the viewer go confused and sometimes unable to join the dots. Timothée Chalamet, also the film's co-producer, didn't impress much, and his mannerisms reminded me of Leonardo DiCaprio's buffoonery in 'One Battle After Another'. Still wondering how come the Academy jury chose this film for nine nominations. Avoid.
