About an hour or so ago, I noticed on LinkedIn that one of the members I've been connected with for years has blocked me. Several days ago, he posted on his page that he was looking for a new job opportunity in recruitment that was also remote. I saw 2 job posts on a different job board that were both remote and in the recruitment field. These opportunities were at 1 company. I typed up a comment on his page with the links to these roles, along with the name of the company. No "thank you" or anything. Tonight, I've noticed he's blocked me. Really?? I don't understand it. This isn't the first time in my life when I've gone out of my way to be kind to someone, and they didn't respond positively. It's happened to me COUNTLESS times. Another example is when I bought someone birthday gifts for their birthday back in 2021, and they blocked me shortly afterwards (it was for a man that had romantic interest in me, but I guess he decided that since I chose not to be with him, he wanted nothing to do with me! 🤷‍♀️). I see sooooo many people that appear to be completely devoid of any kind of love and/or compassion, and spend the majority of their days being wicked, lying, cheating, stealing, backstabbing people, etc., yet a lot these individuals have lots of friends. But individuals like me that try to do the right thing, treat others with kindness, respect, etc., I don't have any friends, and I get mistreated and cast aside like a nobody. It's not like I'm doing kind deeds just to get people to like me. I just genuinely like helping others. I really don't get it. Of course, I have my flaws. I have a temper. I've yelled at people before. I've even cursed out someone before, but that isn't my default personality. 🤷‍♀️ Usually when I behave that way, it's because I've been attacked, disrespected, etc. I don't make it a goal to just pick fights with any individual I come in contact with and find ways to disrespect them. I am a straightforward person, and can be opinionated; I've been called the B word for being that way. I don't think being assertive is a character flaw though. My first instinct is to tell the truth, so by being transparent about what I like and don't like, shouldn't be a problem for others, and shouldn't result in me being called nasty names. Perhaps people want me to be a B word 365 days a year. If I were a B word 365 days a year, maybe THEN I would have more friends. 🤷‍♀️ 🤔

A few possibilities- -what we consider to be a nice action, can be considered a controlling, unhelpful, or suspicious action. -some individuals have more obscure boundaries that may seem to suggest leaving them alone entirely is what they prefer. -some individuals use people, so kindness only means weakness. If those kind to them have nothing they desire. Then they are useless to them and inconsequential. -some individuals are used constantly, so they view all kind acts outside of a specific circle of friends as suspicious. The risk of being used outweighs their desire for new companionship. They just want to keep what they have. Unfortunately, many are driven to take those very things away. Referring to the being a B----. You could, if you wanted to. If you did choose to though, you'd have to be consistent. Merciless, cold, immoral, agnostic(at the least/pagan at the most), and indulge in debauchery. You'd need to become like the ones who use(some of them enjoy being in packs). Where nothing is sacred or forbidden. Personally I believe being alone is a worthy price to pay for being an individual. One without such fake parasites attached to me.

You make some good points. Some of the points you've made are things that I've considered before. One of your points that some individuals have obscure boundaries and they prefer being left alone, isn't one that I had considered would be a possibility for someone blocking me. 🤔 But this man on LinkedIn was already someone I was connected with. It wasn't even just some random person. However, even if he WAS a random person, why create a PUBLIC post on your LinkedIn page announcing to every person in your network on LinkedIn, that you're looking for a new job, and then when I send him 2 job leads that are the types of roles he said he wanted, he blocks me?? 🤷‍♀️ That's the part that makes no sense to me. I'll admit, it's been bothering me the past few hours. I find it a bit hurtful to be treated that coldly when all I was trying to do was be helpful. 😕 To your point about a nice action possibly being considered a suspicious action, I can say that that resonates with me. I have grown suspicious of people that have done nice things for me, especially men, and that is because in my experience, I have encountered men who are only doing kind deeds because they want something from me. The point you made about some individuals considering a person who is kind to them as useless if they have nothing they desire, is something I've considered. I do believe that is one of the reasons I get treated with indifference by some people. Yeah, I just can't see myself being merciless, cold, immoral, etc. consistently. 😕 Sometimes I even feel guilty when I've gotten into an argument with someone and said something mean to them in retaliation to something they said to me. I'll tell myself that I should have just let it go. I don't have a desire to be a wicked person 24/7. I would have to force myself to be that way--it wouldn't come naturally. 🤷‍♀️ I spend A LOT of time alone. I agree with you about not wanting "fake parasites" attached, but at the same time, it's not healthy to spend exorbitant amounts of time alone. 🤷‍♀️ There needs to be healthy balance, like with most things. I don't need a huge entourage of friends. I would like a small number of close friendships.
