Let's discuss...

This is a long one lol but I wanna give my final thoughts on the term "ghosting" since it's thrown around a lot. In my personal life I have never felt "ghosted" but I have been accused of it before on multiple occasions so.... In my opinion if you have been talking to someone for a short amount of time on an app and have never met, then one day the communication stops, I don't consider that ghosting. I think it's a non confrontational way of moving on to someone else or just expressing that it isn't a compatible connection. A lot may argue "why not just say that?" And in some instances I agree but at the same time, if you tell someone "hey I'm not interested anymore or I'm not gonna talk to you anymore " the common response is why and once you give a reason you'll get a rebuttal or maybe even a nasty snarky reply and it's an unnecessary process for strangers to go through. On the other hand, if you've been talking for weeks, months, have gone on dates, and really believe there is a connection growing then the communication stops. That is ghosting but to each his own definition. (edited)

Agreed OP though I also want to add that life can get in the way. People seem to forget that checking an app is not necessary in bringing food to the table and simply surviving the day (e.g. work, others, extenuating circumstances, etc). I have ADHD, take meds, am a dad, and have a high stress job (that I can't text unless I'm in my office). By the time I get home, I have other things I need to do then when I get that moment of peace, I pass out. Life just happens. I understand people get excited but sometimes some folks need to be aware of the other individual they are communicating with~ the want for the self overshadowes the bigger picture... and by that time (day or so), they've moved on. Connection is important but so are time & space (and sometimes reminders).
