Let's talk about our types, what is your ideal type when it comes to relationships and what are your deal breakers in a partner? Also, why don't relationships last nowadays as compared to our parents or grandparents' time???

Relationships don't last because often they don't have to, our grandparents stuck together out of mostly necessity, be it financial or property or whichever. We're just much less utilitarian now, so we date out of a want, not a need.

Things don't last because the practice of mending the ruptures and reestablishment is dwindling. Some things aren't worth saving, true, but people also do a wondrous job at being highly uninvested from the start.

I am not sure about ideal type but deal breakers are abuse of any forms, manipulation of every type and cheating in whatever sense. I believe the reasons relationship does not last these days because: 1. instead of mending relationships; people choose the easy way out and walk away. 2. when things get difficult and when works are needed to fix the relationships; instead of being faithful and work it out - all of a sudden people turn to their comfort (self-care) and simply turn cold. 3. emotional maturity is stunted because most are used to quick fix and most are not, sincerely invested in the relationship. 4. these days, instead of using things; people use people. Honestly I don't know what my type is... when I meet someone that vibes with me, I can feel it. But I'm pretty sure a deal breaker for me is comunication: we must have a good comunication, to grow and overcome problems. Finally my take on one of the reasons why relationships last shorter than in the past: because we have so many choices that we never really put patience and effort in someone. But it's just one of the many reasons.

Ideal type? Sterilised and decent human being. Deal breakers? King baby behaviour. Old times? Because back then divorce was not easily accessible and they stayed for survival 🤷‍♀️

My ideal type is someone who feels like a save room in Resident Evil: his presence feels like a welcoming, warm, soft place to lay on after a rough day. No need to be on high alert for bs. I can just "be" (: As for relationship longevity, it's such a broad topic to talk about. (edited)

Relationships/marriages don't work because people normalize the hookup culture mentality, and other atrocious cultures.. The majority of people are not fit for commitment or anything because of all the traumas, destructive habits they cumulative over previous relationships, life, etc and not willing to heal from any of it. There's lots of things..

Will just say that it's short lived retention where technology and media has influenced our generation to always be searching for next new interesting thing and many relationships cannot satisfy that to constantly keep things interesting and new especially as more and more people may be more introverted than extrovert and have somewhat poor social ability / skills. Things were much more simple in our parents and grandparents time because they had no technology to pass the time and their culture / way of fun was to literally go out and socialize whereas the internet now promotes staying at home consuming media and games to curb boredom and to socialize

My type basically is who don't check off any deal breakers as no sense to waste either of our times depending on what they want out of their life. As for lasting relationships I feel back in the day it was a society norm for you to marry/ have kids young and like just live life. But with now a days more choices and different values of what someone wants out of life changes the game. Plus think back to those who had like arranged marriages or married quickly because of a child on the way vs people who had abortions as an example.
