I call utter bs... I've was never taught to love myself. In therapy since 9 for low self esteem and depression.. at 7 I gained my death wish. But how can someone say you can't love others unless you love yourself? You don't wanna know how many exes I've loved and how many times I've gotten broken up with.. vs the ratio of those I've broken up with.. all I did was love others, and was too busy loving others to love myself. Not like I was taught anyway. All I've ever known was how to love another.. several years later, however... and all of that unreciprocation has rendered me numb from the inside and out. I've felt nothing for the past 6 years. What if the narrative is.. You can't love yourself if you were never taught to.. and .. Love is the root of all grief.

I have to disagree with this, too; I have absolutely been in situations where I despised myself -- for legit reasons and not so -- and still been 110% for someone else. I know the common line is accepted, but not sure I agree with the reason. There's no blanket statement that covers everyone.

I think you just have to learn to appreciate you and avoid being in a relationship for a while. I have a self esteem issue as well and i’ve decided to stay single until i’m ready to be in a relationship again and also when i found someone that boost the person i am into becoming the best version of myself😊. Well your story is quite similar to mine, except I ended it mostly, because I don't date cheaters. But I realised my qualities and worked up my self esteem based on statistical factors and genuinely honest feedback. My love in boo is my self love level pretty much and how much I work on my mental health to overcome the issues in my life. Spend fun time, laugh a lot, enjoy your hobbies, take care of yourself, physically & mentally. Nature is beautiful and calming too. Look in the mirror, tell yourself, you're perfect the way you are, no one is like another, even twins have at least different personalities. You can't change how you look or the way you are, only give your best to be the best of that. So why put yourself down for something you can only influence by some extent, if you could build yourself up instead? And people that make you feel bad often, constantly disappoint you, cut them out, they're parasites leeching off of the good life you could live without them. Wish you best of success.
