Historical Crime Thriller Somewhat distorted story but what a great cinematography and performances by the three heavyweights: Hackman, Young Dafoe, and F. Mcdormand My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Black Comedy Drama Another gem of a movie from the 90s. Spacey giving one of the best performances of his acting career. Great film for a slow evening. My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (edited)
Epic Jidaigeki A legendary film from a legendary director. Even after 72 years, this film trumps over modern day ensemble action flick slop that comes out every year! My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Biography Drama Beautifully acted when Smith was at his peak. Poignant to the point where you actually want something good to happen with the protagonist as soon as possible. My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (edited)
Survival Drama Adventure It's been 26 years and one can still only speculate what if he had opened that box and found something useful: a phone may be or some device to contact the outside world. That said, the film does makes you appreciate things that we take for granted today: Water & Fire My… (edited) read more
Drama Needn't say much about this one. But life isn't a box full of chocolates. For most, it's a box filled with maggots and thorns... My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Science Fiction Horror Suspense No jump scares, no masks or anything and yet this film has an eerie dreadness to it... My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Neo-Noir Crime Thriller Another gem from the 90s. It's funny how far behind is Russell Crowe in the poster since he was a relatively new and somewhat chubby actor while Spacey was at his peak. Of course, Crowe's talent, his charming smile and time changed everything. My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (edited)
Slapstick Comedy If you haven't seen this one yet then what have you seen!!! My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Biography Drama Though only inspired, people like Brashear actually existed. Great inspiration for those who get inspired. My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Comedy Drama Surreal An aesthetically pleasing and thorough entertainment from the start till the end... My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Epic Historical Drama The only mainstream film that could rival Schindler's list in every aspect. No well-known actors (except Brody) and yet such a piercing screenplay and direction My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Historical Crime Drama Usually I despise and avoid propaganda films, especially those that glorify Israel system but I could make am exception for this one since I like Eric Bana as an actor and the film is well-made by Spielberg. My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Epic Period War Drama Adventure What a delightful movie to watch. Everyone fits so well in his role. I wished they made more such sea-faring films like this. Alas, we get superhero slop instead... My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ✨
Romance Dark Fantasy Water in almost every scene, the azure green hue, brilliant screenplay and direction... My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Drama What a stellar acting by Swank, which could only be rivaled by Charlize Theron in Monster and Swank herself in Million Dollar Baby. It's been 27 years and the film still feels so good to watch... My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Crime Comedy 26 years it's been and this film is still such a kick ass! Not a single boring scene. Witty dialogues and humor from the back alleys of London. "London. You know: fish, chips, cup 'tea, 'real bad weather, 'barry white, 'london underground, 'joblot. Mind you, that's 'men 'o 'the… (edited) read more
Drama Remakes of classic masterpieces are seldom any good let alone great. This one, however, reaches pretty close to the original. And the good Bill Nighy carrying the entire weight on his signature style and piercing eyes. Poignant just like Ikiru of 1952 by Kurosawa My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Gangster Crime Drama Usually Denzel overwhelms and dominates his co-actors in scenes but in this one Crowe went toe to toe. Too bad Crowe gained so much weight and now reduced to secondary characters. My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (edited)
Fantasy Drama Apart from slight backstory faults, this film is so good in almost every aspect. I've never read the novel so don't know how accurate is the adapted screenplay. But regardless of that, this film is ageless and beautifully made & acted. My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Epic Revisionist Western When I watched it ages ago, I couldn't understand the film title. Only later, I realized that it was native american name of the protagonist. Another good film with an impressionable & immortal theme score just like The last of the mohicans. My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Biographical Legal Drama Some aspects of this film are just "meh" but nonetheless an enjoyable film even if the central story is painful and disturbing. My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Action Thriller A sleeper cult film with brilliant Willem dafoe , good enough for the weekend My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Comedy An indie comedy that has zero high-stakes action. If you like your comedies deadpan, deeply surreal, and infinitely quotable, it’s absolute perfection with a legendary final dance scene. My Rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Historical Psychological Drama Unlike Kill Bill, a quest for vengeance in a different way. A much more realistic depiction where hurts and losses are real and too deep to heal. Evil is pure with no compassion or principle. Many will find scenes in this film very disturbing and painful to watch. My… (edited) read more
Science Fiction Only a talented director like Villeneuve could have pulled it off and thank god it wasn't Nolan. The mustard tint, Zimmer almost matching Vangelis's haunting score, great cinematography, and intense Gosling. Only weak points: Slightly illogical story, Leto and Luv. Could have found… (edited) read more

Social Commentary Thriller One of the crowning jewels of erstwhile Indian cinema. Shot on a shoe string budget but delieverd a great performance by great actors. Many would relate it with feminism. Drink: Pepsi Zero Sugar (Cherry & Vanilla Flavour, American Import) Aroma: Smells like cream soda mixed with heavy cherry syrup. Taste: Like melted cherry vanilla ice cream. **My Royal Nemesis – 6.5/10** Spoiler alert!! I really liked the time-travel concept in this drama. Early on, I found it confusing how Seo-Ri was once a famous child actress, only to lose all of her talent, and then suddenly become an exceptional actress again after the main character returned.… read more
