1yLet's get this straight...
I am a 12yrs single mother of ONE son whose father has NEVER been in the picture. Never wanted to be. And I am not a woman who would put a man on child support just because he chooses not the be there for their child. My son is well taken care of and loved by me. Now let's get to the issue... a lot of men I have come across assume that I want them to be a step father to my child. WRONG. It is a choice. And if that is not a choice you're willing to do then be on your merry way. You can just be you, or his friend, or his hero. But it has to be your choice. And your choice would have to include us BOTH. I also don't agree with the whole "step" father and mother thing. Ideally you're whatever you see yourself as to that child. Of course, keeping in mind to certain boundaries until everyone is comfortable with the change of adjustment in each other's lives then it can be discussed how things should be from there and the roles. Regardless, it is about acceptance of that role and responsibility. And I can proudly and confidently say that a lot of men who refuse both my son and I are absolutely missing out on a most wonderful woman and child. That being said I respect the decision but most deliverance of the rejection is completely uncalled for. (edited)

Coming from a guy raised by a single mom and someone I considera stepdad even tho they never married - making the conscious decision to take on the role that should've been filled by the one responsible for the child coming into the world in the first place should be considered a high honor, and instead has been promoted by "alphabro red pillers" as getting "cukkd". My step dad worked 2 jobs, dealt with a very difficult woman (my mom has a mental illness), and experienced a ton of family tragedy until he was murdered. He got me to my baseball practice on the back of his motorcycle when I was late, played catch with me, did pushups with me on his back when I was little, and his family accepted me as if I was their own. Towards the end of his life I resented him and treated him like sht. Now, I harbor a ton of regret and can only wish I had the amount of self-sacrifice he did. I really miss him. But it just reveals the level of selfishness and immaturity that some men have in their hearts by refusing a fatherless child. They really don't understand how important it is to fill that void.
