Bestie tells me to drop the Anime and witchcraft(I’m Wiccan)

Im a M 27 years old and single. My bestie F 27 and been in a relationship for 7 years is trying to give me tips on helping me find a good woman. She wants me to drop the anime and put away my Pokémon plushies. She suggest i get a shelf to have them on display in a neat row. She wants me to get rid of my pokemon tapistry too. I understand she is trying to help me find someone but I don’t want to be woth someone who doesn’t at least acknowledge my likes. I also not dropping the witch craft. Thats part of who I am and things I like to do. I want to be with someone who accepts me for who I am. Someone I can be myself around. I would like to find someone who is also into Anime and/or witchcraft. I’m Wiccan. Her answer to me is that im just limiting myself and need to drop these things. Shes into anime butbshe dosent make it known. I don’t think she has any idea how much I like anime. If i got rid of these things then I wouldn’t be myself. I don’t want to hide who I am from someone just because they will reject me. Thoughts, feedback, criticism, experiences welcomed.

If you have to change who you are for someone to be with you, they will not want you for who you really are. Which will make you unhappy, and them possibly feeling regret if and when the charade comes undone. We are who we are, you're person will have little to no issues accepting that, it just takes comings. Too many conditions means it's more of an agreement than relationship. Just my .02 (edited)

I think a better way your friend might have put it would be to try to ease someone into it, rather than put it all out there all at once. That said, how many dates do you have that end up at your place? I also don't know the size of your collection either, but that is a nice tapestry. Could be an issue of interior design, depending on its placement. Just trying to throw possibilities out there, as I don't know your friend. It's entirely possible that she has someone in mind for you, and doesn't want them overwhelmed right away.

Changing for others and not yourself only leads to sadness. I’m a massive anime fan myself and it’s a source of a lot of joy for me. Enjoy your hobbies and be yourself if someone doesn’t get that they are not worth your time.

Echo all the comments about be true to yourself, but also reflect on what is the core of that, what do you need to honor that and what can you flex on for someone you care about. As an example being Wiccan and able to practice freely and openly is key. Being able to like and enjoy Pokémon and anime sure. But would you require your partner to want to live in a house decorated with them? Maybe that's what you need maybe not. How do your choices/style now indicate that ability or willingness to flex? Mine is living by bike and not eating meat. And often that's seen as anti car and anti meat. I try and make it clear when these come up that they're my choices for me and I need people around me who respect and appreciate they are important to me, but they need to choose what's right for them. The trickier ones are always where one person's choices have implications for the other though ae.

If you actively need to change things that resemble you, that's an issue. Unapologetically be yourself. If someone doesn't like it, they aren't met to be with you or in your life. Imagine if someone told you those things but for tattoos, how are you going to hide them? Same concept.
