Hey guys, I hope this dosen't come off disrespectful but I am looking for this from the perspective of extroverts (particularly men). I recently started a new job afew months ago. There is a man that works in maintenance that I see every now and again who seems to want to talk to me . Even though I'm shy I'm usually pretty nice and approachable as long as people approach me respectfully. He seems friendly and everyone else seems to like him but I am pushing him away because of his approach with me is it's making me uncomfertable. He seems to desire my attention, not in a "I want to get to know you because you seem like an interesting person" type away but I'm a "I am looking for attention and validation from you" sort of way or maybe both. Even if this is the case, if he just introduced himself to me and was nice I would have a much easier time letting him in. He seems to find ways to cut in front of me or bump into me (in a way) that would give me no choice other then to interact with him. It annoys me because I see those actions as rude and a little immature, like just introduce yourself? He then immidiatly tries to talk to me after those things happen and I just ignore him the best I can, even if I say somthing I don't look into his eyes. I just feel like this is adding unnesisary stress to my job. Like leave me alone or just talk to me like a person? BTW I hope this does not come off as me generalizing all extroverts as attention and validation seeking. Not everyone has healthy communication styles extroverted or introverted. What do you think his motive is? I just don't like alot of attention myself so I find it hard to relate to him. Not an extrovert, but I have noticed that the maintenance and cleaning people tend to be alone a lot and most people ignore them. Some can be very talkative though and just start conversations. Which can be annoying when your trying to work, but they just want someone to talk with. The manners your maintence guy does seem a little overly intrusive as a way to start a conversation though. Maybe he doesn't know how to start one normally. Maybe he has tried and people ignore him because he is just the maintenence guy. Not saying it is healthy or right, and not defending his actions.
