Technically my first anime was Samurai Pizza Cats, if that counts but my first mature anime was Cowboy Bebop.

Has to be Spice and Wolf The story follows a 25-year-old man traveling merchant named Kraft Lawrence who meets Holo, a female wolf deity of wheat. Holo, bound to a nearby town by an old promise to ensure good harvest, escapes with Lawrence when the townspeople stopped believing in her. Its sweet and after the Anime came to an end I read the Manga to the finishline. Its a sweet and sometimes dramatic Lovestory. But most of it its like a medival trading game

🤔... well I was 8 or 9 so i'm not sure if it's Akira, Fist of the North Star or Saint Seiya Knights of the Zodiac but after that it was Inuyasha, Yuyu Hakusho, followed by lots and lots of mobile suit gundam and dragonball z... I've never stopped watching anime's ever since!

Ha! Samurai Pizza cats may have been my first anime too. At the same time I got a Vhs of G-Force Guardians of space for my Birthday which was an english dub version of Gatchaman. This was all aged 4. The first mature anime was Cyber City Oedo 808....at the age of 5. My dad started showing me mature stuff very young lol. Saw Ghost in the shell and Akira when I was 6. (edited)

@Brandon Times Times change. Ahat sells the most becomes the most common. Not just the animation which took a turn early 2000s due to digital becoming faster and cheaper, older animators as you say leaving. There was also a focus shift on what's popular and making money than the wonderful experiments in both story and art we got from anime in the 80s before the Japanese Bubble economy burst in 89 and Anime was deemed a financial black hole.
