Question for the guys

How many of you actually take the time to read bios before liking someone on here? And how many of you just mindlessly like people only based on their pictures?

95% reading the bios and 5% anxiety telling me if i should like them or not

4y

I take a moment to look at a first photo to gauge interest, I'll read their bio for their qualities to feel potential match and then proceed to go back and see more of their photos if they have more. It's like a build up to swiping before making the decision. Not sure how some mindlessly swipe without really giving a person's bio a read it doesn't feel as genuine if you're not getting a feel for someone beforehand

4y

Unfortunately I find reading anything to be a waste of time on any dating site. I'll scan to see if we match politically, religiously, etc. But majority of the people I swipe on I don't match with, so it makes more sense to just do a quick scan. If we match, then yes of course.

4y

Can't not read bios, seems people on here actually care about the human side of things in comparison to other platforms.

4y

I read their bio first, if I like their bio. then carefully looking at their picture/s. :)

4y

I don't know how many of the other guys do,but I absolutely do...Hopefully all the MEN on here outgrew that mentality many years ago, or else they just accidentally landed here, skipping right over their Tinder apps, just to make us evolved Gentlemen look a little better...🧐🤔🤫

4y

Like on looks, read when matched it's my cycle

4y

Pictures don't tell you near as much about the person as the bios does

4y

Great question! 😄 I don't know if I'm an outlier or not but I actually read the bios no matter how long they are if I'm even 25% interested based on the pictures. I'm also extremely picky with who I like because I always think to myself "Do I just like their profile of them or do I actually want to talk to them?" Sometimes I'll read quotes or well-said comments and things on the profile and write it down (well, screenshot it lol) because it's worth remembering. So if I give a like then that means I'm prepared and interested enough to actually wanna talk to you.

3y

Never really pay too much attention to the bio, I always read it, but at the same time I don't feel is that important, like who doesn't like to travel? Dog or cats does that matter? Is somebody gonna say something like "sometimes I'm so boring"? So I think the bio is nothing more than how you see yourself which is probably not the way I'm gonna see you

4y

I /have/ to read the bio. Then I have to make sure there are well taken photos. 😂 I can't imagine swiping based on looks only. If the bio isn't interesting, substantial, or feels welcoming, I kind of just overlook. I like an attractive face but there needs to be a personality or something that puts together a basic picture of the person there.

4y

Depends on the length of the bio. I'm not reading a whole page😅🤣

4y

i look at the bios and answers admittedly most times after pictures i don't care how attractive someone looks if they didn't take a little time and effort into their profile and aren't having fun with the process.. we probably aren't gonna have a good conversation other than small talk so i'll stay away a little lol.. (edit: thought it said "for you guys" oops) (edited)

4y

I read the bio but thing is I've seen some people talk on here that are interesting and don't have an amazing bio so I lowered how much I care about it a little bit.

4y

Can honestly say that I read everything about a person before I make a decision 😊

4y

I always read bios. A picture can't tell me who you are lol. I need to read something that makes me want to message you or get to know the person writing the words.

4y

Sometimes what I read saves me from liking someone I wouldn't be interested in, so yeah. I also just read abnormally fast, so that helps.

4y

I definately am here for dating so i do a good mixture of both but more reading then pics

3y

I read every word of every bio before I decide to like or not. Everyone has their dos and don’ts for their criteria of people they are interested in - and I’m finding that a lot of the time, these things are put out there in most peoples’ bios (smoking as an example is a no for me)! Reading bios can alert you of these things even before they come up via talking (if they accept / reply), and you can absolutely get a generalized idea of how someone will be by what they give you to work with. At the same time - I personally pass on empty bios. If someone won’t put in the 10 minutes (generous) to type in some basics, what’re the chances that they’re going to put the time AND effort into anything else?

4y

I’m actually deterred from anybody who doesn’t have a bio. Not sure why.

4y

How about maybe if y'all would message back or acknowledge the guys who actually do read your bio

4y

Almost always reading but I also keep my physical preferences in mind as I don’t want to waste anyones emotional time! So I will swipe pretty quick if I don’t think I would find the person attractive as a partner as physical attraction is something that is important to me

4y

Depends. I typically gloss over a bio and look for red/green flags. Then I would take more of a look if we match. Best use of time when it comes to these type of things

4y

I read. Always.

4y

Always read tells me what they are looking for

4y

I feel like only 30% read bios, I'll admit there are a few times when I don't read bios but it's only when I'm in a rush.

4y

On most apps its like or swipe. Some apps won't let you actually view profiles while doing the window shopping. I make sure I read profiles when I get a match. I will look for a few indicators here that will tell me if we won't mesh well together... Do you have more than the minimum number of pics, do you like certain things I hate, are you anywhere near me that we can date. This app is actually pretty good about forming connections

4y

I always do. But I'm more interested in reading that person's personally type.

4y

Some of us ALWAYS read the bios

4y

It's a necessity to see what a person wants you to know on their profile. In my case though, I try to get a giggle out of my foolishness.

4y

I try to make an honest effort to read everything the way I see it is I would treat you with same respect i would like back

3y

I actually read every bio then look at location

4y

I read the bio for everyone that I’m interested in even if just looking for friends. I’m not at all opposed to just friends.

4y

I read bios and see if it says dating friends dating/friends if you don't have a bio I'm probably not going to like

4y

I always read, I don't want to pursue someone if I think their values and ideals are ugly.

4y

Usually I first take a look at their photos just to guess what their personality is like and if it does catch my interest I read their bios. I rarely pass on a person before reading their bio unless their pictures freaks me out to do so lol

4y

When I'm tired in general I just keep on swiping, but overall I think there's no point in NOT having a bio
