The need for affirmation
I feel like I come across this quite a bit. Anytime things move past the introduction phase I seem to get questions/statements like, well I don't know why you even like me, or self degrading comments as in, I'm not pretty and you are so attractive. I find the lack of self confidence a turn off and normally things begin to break down after this. Has anyone experienced this or maybe have thoughts on this?

Most people prefer someone who has confidence. It is a great attribute. However, I believe everyone, secure or insecure, all need some kind of attentions. The anxious attachment will need plenty of reassurance. Sometimes, rarely everything goes so well, it seems too good to be true, you will automatically doubt it, because our brain is trying to protect us from unfamiliar situation. It should not be seen as a put off. Try put on a non judgmental glasses and reassure her or use other approach to see if it works. It is an opportunity to learn. Not a trap to make you fall into it. Simply means your could learn to be more patient, more understanding, and be more emotional available. Many men I have seen are emotional unavailable. Women are traumatize and naturally feel insecure. Can’t blame them. In the other hand, women are more expressive, sensitive, more emotional, require partner that emotional available as them as well,

You are the confidence as a man. No confidence is a women thing, and it is not a main prio. But some level of it is good, and proper women will take some of your confidence for her self ( in a positive way ) . Bad combo is you don't have confidence and then going for one that also has no confidece ... (edited)

When someone behaves like this, it's not a lack of confidence; it's a trauma response and they are two completely different things! When you mistake the two and dismiss someone because you feel they lack confidence; that's saying you don't value them and they're not worth the effort. They're too much work and you remind them of all the awful things they already feel about themselves. Is it easy to date someone who struggles with past trauma, no. But if you take the time to invest in them with honest & true intentions you won't be disappointed. Don't get confidence confused with trauma! (edited)

It's kinda irritating to hear some self degrading statements.. usually happens when they are heart broken or disregarded by someone.. People don't know how to think positively especially on the certain situation.. but all i can say , they need someone who'll raised them from hell to heaven and that's their own self..
