What are your thoughts?
I’m surrounded by a lot of christian people, yet I deconstructed from a belief in a god a few years ago. I’d love a deep and honest conversation about this, preferably with a theist or ex-theist.

I think Atheism can be just as repressive as any other repressive belief system. Communist countries are good examples of that. What it means to be religious can also mean very different things to people. A religious free thinker can use their faith to liberate themself from repression from dogmatic belief systems. The secular revolution is a pretty good example of Protestants fighting against Catholic control and repression of free thought. Today it is interesting to see that at the same time that many people break free from strict closed religious communities. Where there is often abuse, neglect and control. People are also embracing religion because it is used to promote natural rights, reason and free thought. I think ultimately it boils down to looking at labels and not substance. My personal belief is that if people become nihilistic it's harmful to most people. And I believe non-theistic belief systems can be extremely dangerous.

I was very religious when I was young, and I started to figure out that it was nonsense when I was about 12 or 13. And then I went through like a militant atheism. In my early twenties, which I'm sure everyone enjoyed. But as I've gotten older, I realize the foolishness. The important part about religion isn't the deity, it's the religion. In other words, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you believe in God or Jesus, but if you follow what they set down for you, and live life this way, I suspect you will be much happier, and on a grander level, you would be part of a better society. Unfortunately, now, we just have people who enjoy wearing the label, but not doing the work. Like a huge fatso wearing a spandex gym outfit. Like, dude, I can see you ain't been washing no feets. So a few months ago, I started inventing a neo-religion, which has its very base tenet in the fact that it's made up, but the idea is that if you follow the practice of it, you could live a more fun, centered, spiritually connected life, but with completely made up deities. You know, just like Jesus and Horus and Baphomet.

I think alot of religions primarily in the Christianity subject, catholics, Mormons, etc, don't properly practice their religion. Christian mythology does preach love and not judging others, yet they're so FREAKING judgmental modernly Likely stemming from the ancient manipulation of the church but that's another long subject. Regardless God and Jesus said it's a sin to judge others for that's THEIR job. And pastors see themselves as leaders, they should be unbiased guides. Look at other religions. Half of them don't have this issue. I was raised Wiccan and catholic. My dad faced these heavy judgments leading to his own disbelief in religion meanwhile my mother fully embraces her beliefs and our pagan history. I personally was an atheist growing up. But when I became a nomad I have experienced some mind boggling things I can't remotly explain logically and eventually accepted that science hasn't discovered and explained everything yet. That mythology and science don't have to be opposing.

Almost every religion or philsophy believes in a creator. Christians tend to have a very bittersweet version of GOD but the only version you should have is your own. And if you have "deconstructed" or detached from a belief in GOD, well see how long that serves you... (edited)

You know I may or may not offend so many people here by telling you this but every religion is created because someone philosophy get influenc other people and many other get into these philosophy and that's how a religion created. And the God you know why God doesn't have face or shape in every religion. Actually think about it. I have my meta truth' about it but you should think about it first (edited)

It's nothing really that you would want to go to deep with I would think, most people would just confuse themselves, this is just my opinion, but I believe it to be fact in my mind but the universe is conscious and gives us all we need,.. that's it no more to it than that

I was reading the bible for, like the 7th time, when I was 12, then I put it in the rack where I had other books. Later when I was going to pick it up I found it was literally indistinguishable from the other tales, books or stories. It had a main character, a plot, plottwist, the main character dies but resurrected and was like a wizzard. From that moment on I just couldn't see religion in other way but like others books. I wondered, If i were greek... Would the oddesy be like that?? Would I believe Zeus would smite me?? When I was 15 I had completely stopped any kind of belief and found science as the way of understanding the universe. It was kinda relieving not gonna lie. Nothingness awaits for all of us, and I couldn't care less about it.
