4yInternal Monologue
Any one here have an internal monologue? I just recently learned that not everyone has it. I always thought everyone could somewhat hear themselves when they read a book, "talk to themselves", get a song stuck in your head, etc. I had no idea those who had an internal monologue were in the minority. I believe it was said in the 30% range population.

This is my entire life 😄. I think it tends to be a trait of those with a preference for intuiting Vs sensing. For me there's the person on the outside which is who people see and interact with and there is the mastermind on the inside. The mastermind takes all the deep thoughts like "why doesn't your innate immune system completely destroy the vaccine before your adaptive immune response gets to look at it". When he comes up with ideas he then speaks it out through the external one so he can hear the idea in real time and critique it. It's a very weird system

What a strange idea to not have one. I mean, I know that some people seem not to have it, but to me it feels like such a natural way to process thoughts that I can't even imagine any thinking process happening without this voice constantly in my head. Thankfully, I always perceive it as my own, otherwise this would probably be a reason for a psychiatrist check...

I've always had this too

I believe this is a neurodivergent qualifier. I have adhd and just recently processed what this truly means and that not everyone's mind thinks that way.

I am surprised so many prefer to think at the speed of speech. While certainly I can slow down my reasoning to spell things out for myself when an issue requires it, but most thinking is faster than speech ie I know things, ideas are fully realized and must then be then be unfurled into speech, understanding a thing is "three dimensional" in a way that would take a paragraph or more to explain. Does the monologue pause when you enter into real life dialogue? Does it pause when you engage with a nonverbal, high concentration task (playing music, very busy work)?

I have an internal monologue, also often have discussions with other people in my head. I did notice however that if I'm really focused on something, the voices disappear. Like if I'm really engrossed in a good book, I'm just in the world, I practically see it as if I'm there.

Is it type of acting skill to be able to get natural emotions from pretending your having a conversation with someone be it fiction or a real life person for example in a book where the MC get angry at someone I can take that scene and take those emotions the characters is expressing (also I can see a lot more than words in text I see everything about that character and if I get really into it I can imagine the movie). I also then copy that conversation create a similar scene with the same emotion I think I just said multiple skills I'm not sure thought I'm not a acting coach only someone that's very self taught and has passion for acting.
